![]() Scroll down to the "Downloads" section (about 3/4 of the way down). I wouldn't recommend using this version as it is not currently considered stable and it is also not currently open-source. ![]() This is a new StepMania fork that is still in development. Run make -j4 (or make -j8 if you know that you have at least 8 CPU cores and you're impatient).Īssuming that you didn't get any errors, the compiled game should be inside the directory where you extracted the source code archive (it's just called stepmania). If you get any errors at the end of this let me know, you might be missing a build dependency. It's been a while since I've compiled StepMania and I haven't checked that this commnd actually installs everything that you need so let me know if you have any problems.) (This command is for Ubuntu, let me know if you're using a different distribution and I will give you the correct command. Run sudo apt-get install build-essential cmake mesa-common-dev libglu1-mesa-dev libglew1.5-dev libxtst-dev libxrandr-dev libpng-dev libjpeg-dev zlib1g-dev libbz2-dev libogg-dev libvorbis-dev libc6-dev yasm libasound-dev libpulse-dev binutils-dev libgtk-3-dev libmad0-dev libudev-dev libva-dev nasm to install the required dependencies for compilation. Open a terminal and navigate to the extracted directory (if you're using the GUI file manager, you can right click on the directory in the GUI and there will probably be an option to "open in terminal" or "open terminal here"). Extract this archive somewhere in your home directory. Scroll down to the bottom and download "Source code (tar.gz)". I'm assuming that you're using Ubuntu, but most of the instructions are the same. I've included instructions to do this, modified from the official compilation instructions (which tell you how to compile the latest development version rather than the 5.1 release version). This is the version that I would recommend using as it is the latest released version of the StepMania 5.x series and contains numerous bugfixes and feature improvements (including a better visual theme), but you will need to compile it from source. This is an archive that you can extract somewhere in your home directory and the game is inside. Scroll down to the bottom and download "StepMania-5.0.". This version is easier to install as it is is available pre-compiled directly from the StepMania GitHub repository but it is quite old so it may contain bugs or not work well on newer Linux systems so I would recommend trying to compile 5.1 first. There are a few versions that you can choose from.
